Lausanne and the Canton de Vaud are home to close to 50 international sports organisations, including the International Olympic Committee, a vast number of International Federations, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, various sports media, the International Academy of Sports Science and Technology and a multitude of active companies offering varying services to the world of international sport.

The Olympic Capital, with the support of the Canton de Vaud, also plays host to a variety of international sports events and conferences. For example, the annual Olympic Capital event calendar includes, among others; Athletissima (part of the IAAF's Diamond League series), FIBA 3X3 Basketball World Tour, Lausanne Marathon, Lausanne Triathlon, the WADA Anti-Doping Symposium and the IF Forum.
