Andrea Jaeger

Former No 2 professional tennis player, Founding Athlete, Athletes For Hope and Founder, Little Star Foundation

At the age of fourteen Andrea Jaeger became a professional tennis player. At sixteen years old she was the number two ranked professional tennis player in the world. Andrea’s tennis achievements include wins over Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, getting to the finals of Wimbledon and the French Open and winning numerous professional tennis titles. Andrea’s favorite tennis career moments are of visiting children with cancer during her hospital visits and helping children around the world during her tour stops.    

In 1990, after 7 shoulder surgeries, Andrea started a children’s cancer foundation using all of her professional tennis earnings. Little Star Foundation provides long term care and improves the quality of life for children with cancer and children in need worldwide all at no cost to families.    

Andrea has been recognized for her humanitarian efforts, achievements and contributions in helping children with cancer and individuals in need. The following is a short list of the awards Andrea has received:   

1993                                 Good Sport Award winner from Sports Illustrated for Kids

1994                                 Recipient of Family Circle Magazine’s “Player Who Makes a Difference Award”

1994                      The Ivy Lynn Chaplik Humanitarian Award

1995                      Mercedes Excellence Award for “Uncompromising Devotion, Compassion and Care for our Children.”

1996                    The Jefferson Award held in the Supreme Court Chambers

1999                    The Henry P. IBA Citizen Athlete Award

1999                    National Pathfinder Award 

2000                    Jackie Robinson Humanitarian Award (only female recipient)

2001                    World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame

2002                    Ronald McDonald House Charity Award of Excellence

2004                   Sojourner Award

2005                   Little Star Beanie Baby is developed and released by Ty, Inc in recognition of Andrea’s work with children with cancer

2006                   Swiffer Special Achievement Award

2006                   Episcopal Sister Status

2007                   Clarins Most Dynamic Woman Award

2008                   Elected in the Colorado Tennis Hall of Fame

2008                   Recipient of the John Wooden Citizenship Award

Andrea wrote First Service- Following God’s calling and Finding Life’s Purpose. It was released April 2004. 100% of Andrea’s proceeds from the Book went to helping children.
