2017 Taipei Summer Universiade-How the international multi-sport event makes Taipei greater

The 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade will bring student-athletes from around the world for 12 days of competition and education, sportsmanship and friendship, to the beautiful island of Taiwan. Held from August 19th to 30th, the 2017 Summer Universiade is the world’s largest sporting event after the Olympics and will be the largest ever held in Taiwan, with over 12,000 participants -- both athletes and delegates -- from over 150 countries expected. Student-athletes will contend in 21 contests, including 14 compulsory sports regulated by FISU (International University Sports Federation) and seven optional sports. 79 venues and 14 universities in five cities and counties around Taiwan are being made ready to host the games.

The Sportcal GSI Event Studies Programme helps event owners and hosts understand the true impact of their events across a wide range of sectors, and supports them in the further development of their event strategies.

The Sportcal team will present key findings from the GSI Experts Survey, conducted across 2015-2016.

The workshop itself will engage event owners and hosts together in discussing the standards for measuring global sports events, with a specific focus on measuring (and maximizing) economic and tourism impact.

It will bring hosts and owners together in an open discussion and debate about how better results can be achieved in the hosting of major sporting events.
